fsnielsen.com
a guide to the site

This website is simultaneously an informal kind of portal to two other websites in which I participate. Each of the three websites consists of a number of projects in various states of completion. Below, you will find an overview of these projects, ordered according to which website they are part of - with a description of each project, direct links to its main page, and a brief summary of its editorial status, as per June 5th 2003 (later changes are marked by date). Major link collections are regarded as separate projects.

Online texts
www.fsnielsen.com/txt/texts.htm

An inventory of all of my texts that are available online (ca. 25 items). A new project, substantially expanded with new texts during the last six months.

Father Pavel
www.fsnielsen.com/fp/

A site dedicated to the Russian priest, Father Pavel Anatol'evich Adel'geim. A new project, created during the last six months.

Fjellet i Norge om sommeren
www.fsnielsen.com/norske_fjell/

A pictorial and factual portrait of the Norwegian mountains in summer, with high quality photos and practical suggestions for hikers. Text in Norwegian only. A new project, which first went online in September 2005, in a near-complete state. Some text is still lacking, and the number of pictures will be increased.

Timeline of human history
www.fsnielsen.com/tln/

Summary of astronomical, geological and historical time, arranged in a series of 16 graphic timelines with an accompanying illustrated text.

The graphical timelines are nearly complete. Annotations are complete only for the first timelines. Some minor updates during the last year.

Courses - home
www.fsnielsen.com/kur/

Thematically ordered collection of courses and course materials developed by myself from 1987 to the present. A substantial addition of older (pre-1999) material has recently been made, and the site has been indexed thematically. New courses are added each semester.

Order a course
www.fsnielsen.com/ccc/

Describes how businesses, institutions, schools etc. can order courses from me. Created years ago. Minor updates during the last six months.

A maze of texts
www.fsnielsen.com/maz/

More than 130 quotations, associatively linked to each other, forming a web of meaning you may explore. Created several years ago. Some updating and a few additions during the last six months. More is needed, but it works!

VisualText
www.fsnielsen.com/vis/visual_text.htm

A small collection of graphically enhanced poetry (my own). Has been added to and changed somewhat during the last six months.

CV and bibliography
www.fsnielsen.com/cv/background.htm

Contains my full CV and a bibliography of my written work. Not systematically updated for the last three years, but sporadic additions and changes have been made

Links: Nice webpages
www.fsnielsen.com/res/nicepages.htm

A small collection of pages I happen to like and happen to remember to put on the list. Haphazardly conceived and maintained.

Links: Other
www.fsnielsen.com/res/links_page.htm

A "left-over" list of links to this and that (more or less reflecting my interests). Has not been maintained or the links checked for quite a few years.
anthrobase.com
www.anthrobase.com/
(with Kari Helene Partapuoli)

Regularly updated and constantly expanding. Since 2004 the site has a major graphical makeover and there has been considerable expansion.

History of anthropology homepage
www.anthrobase.com/Browse/home/hst/

Contains resources (errata, timelines, links etc.) with relevance to a textbook on the history of anthropology, which I co-authored with Thomas Hylland Eriksen. Nearly complete. The link page (see below) is not complete, though it contains many valuable resources.

Links: History of anthropology texts
www.anthrobase.com/Browse/home/hst/hist-links.htm

A large, thematically organized collection of links to online texts with relevance for the history of anthropology, with in-depth coverage of the history of anthropology in the Nordic countries. Though the collection is large, it is not complete. An update is due soon.

Online anthropological dictionary
www.anthrobase.com/Dic/eng/

An alphabetically and thematically organized online dictionary of anthropological terms, schools and authors.

Under construction. During June 2003, all entries have been translated from Norwegian into English, the list of authors has been expanded to cover half the alphabet (A-Ma) and counts 110 names (many entries are still preliminary). There are still only 74 thematic entries - these are being revised and new entries are being added.

Links: General anthropology
www.fagbokforlaget.no/mellomhimmelogjord/

www.anthrobase.com/Browse/home/hoj/
(with Olaf Smedal)

A comprehensive collection of links with relevance for a wide range of anthropological research themes and regions. Links updated irregularly. Was partly integrated into AnthroBase in 2004. English translation pending, but not yet implemented.

Links: Links to other online texts
www.anthrobase.com/Links/links_to_other_online_texts.htm

Links to anthropological texts on the web. Not developed beyond a simple list of links.
The below pages are no longer active and are maintained for historical reasons only.

Under expansion. Several new sub-projects have recently been added.

NECEN pages
http://www.fsnielsen.com/oeur/network/

Homepage of the Nordic and East / Central European Network of qualitative social research. A complete, new and professional homepage went online in January 2005. Contains extensive information on NECEN's projects.

Cumulative bibliography project
http://www.fsnielsen.com/oeur/resources/bibliography/

(with other members of ECEG)

Selective research bibliographies on various themes and regions in East / Central Europe. Under (slow) expansion. May eventually be transferred to a true database format.

Links: East/Central Europe
http://www.fsnielsen.com/oeur/oesteuropa_links.htm

A collection of resources with relevance for the countries of East / Central Europe (including the former Soviet Union). Uneven. Good general resources. Country-specific resources are mostly scattered. An update is long overdue.
