Perhaps by acknowledging our own feelings and desires, we might actually look at people and places more objectively, by being able to ferret out our own biases and distortions as we do our work...  Unlike Malinowski, who was forced perhaps to dislike those whom he studied in a sturdy effort to propel himself away from his own overwhelming sensual feelings, we might then be open to interpreting from a more centered, stable vantage point.  With the energy conserved by not having to fight our hormones or our fantasies, we could perhaps better grasp an inhabited landscape in a sensual, but more fully accurate, way.
